If you're an agent reading this — either one who already represents me, or one weighing it up — this page is for you. It's how I work, why it works, and what I'd like next.
The way I work
"If you book me, every enquiry I receive at your gig goes to you. I don't take bookings around my agents. I don't quietly hand out cards. I don't undercut. The venue relationship is yours — I'm just there to play."
Every time. If someone approaches me at one of your gigs about another booking, they're directed straight back to you — no exceptions, no "let me give you my email."
If a venue is on your books and you're placing me there, that venue stays on your books for as long as you want it. I won't quietly cultivate a side relationship that cuts you out of future bookings.
Even where I could, I'd usually prefer to send the work back through one of my agencies. Agents do real work — finding gigs, managing venues, chasing payment, smoothing problems — and I'd rather pay for that than do it badly myself.
This isn't a policy I wrote for this page. It's how I've worked for thirty years — and how I want to keep working.
